Why We Started
Our Own Record Label
Honey Crystal Records was co-founded by Dionne Walker in the heart of the Southside of Chicago, which has a vast history of Jazz, Blues, and R&B. Chicago has an abundance of diverse musical talent which has been passed along from generation to generation throughout this city known for "its broad shoulders".
Possession of this rich talent is no exception when it comes to our featured artist, Tracye Eileen. Tracye was raised in a family where its generational musical talent started with her great grandmother who was an accomplished pianist and singer to her father who was an exceptional jazz drummer. Tracye's father had an opportunity to tour with Count Basie, but instead performed his patriotic duty when he was drafted into the Vietnam war. While at war, he was able to share his musical gifts entertaining the troops as he served in the U.S. Army Band.
This musical gift was then passed to Tracye as a singer-songwriter and jazz vocalist. Tracye’s talent, the music appreciation of Dionne Walker and a shared belief and desire that this music should be shared globally, provided the motivation for the creation of the Honey Crystal Records music label. It is the founders’ goal to add additional talented jazz artists from Chicago in the future.
Dionne L. C. Walker
In addition to a love and passion for her sister, Tracye Eileen's talent and music, and a strong interest in music management, Ms. Walker has over twenty years of progressive experience in program and project management. She is the founder and CEO of Carey-Ebanks Environmental Group, a 17 year old environmental consulting firm.
Ms. Walker earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Dillard University and is currently working on a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in sustainability and environmental compliance.
